Lots of Things to Do
Although the Western Plains Zoo is the best known tourist attraction in Dubbo there are many more interesting places to visit and things to do. I fact you can easily fill several days and wonder where the time went. Here are a summary of what Dubbo has to offer.
You can easily spend a day exploring the wonders of the zoo. Check out the option of starting with and early morning zoo walk. They are available every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year and additional days are included during School Holidays and Long Weekends. Your guided walking tour will take you to some areas not included in general entry and at the completion a hearty breakfast is available in the bistro. The road that takes you through the five continent areas is approximately 6 kilometres and you can either drive around in your own car ,ride bikes or hire an electric buggy. Why not take some tucker along and make use of one of the many BBQ picnic areas. Some of the local Aussie animals just might wander in and say hullo.

Located right in the main street between the Commonwealth and Colonial Banks this is a trip back in time. You will marvel at the animatronic models that give you an insight into their part in the gaol community. You will need a couple of hours to absorb this delightful piece of history.
Owned by the National Trust "Dundullimal" is the oldest standing slab homestead in Australia. As you wander through this amazing home your imagination will take you back to the days of the early settlers and recognise the challenges of these pioneering families.
See boomerangs made and then learn how to throw them. Open 7 days and only a few kilometres along Minore road.
They affectionately call this Dubbo's "star" attraction. The observatory has state of the art computerised Meade LX200 telescopes to explore the universe. Learn about where we live in space and have a fun night out. Bookings in advance are essential.
Wine Tasting
A fast growing addition to the Dubbo scene are the first class wineries and cellar door sales. Red Earth Estate (Medal winner), Bora Estate (Medal Winner), Bell River Estate, Lazy River Estate (Medal winner) and Tombstone Winery are all open for wine tasting.
Let the little ones loose in this purpose built indoor play gym while you sit back and sip a coffee.

These are only a few of the many things to do in Dubbo. Others
include The Claypan Gallery, Dubbo Museum, Aboriginal Arts and
Crafts, Day trips to the Wellington Caves, Phosphate Mine and Lake Burrendong. The Warrumbungle
National Park or the Parkes Radio Telescope. Narromine is the
home of the famous Swane's Rose Nursery and don't forget the
delights of Mudgee.
